History of the Breed: This Spitz dog was developed in Poland and eastern Germany in the Pomerania region and later brought to England.
The original breed had a weight of 30 pounds. Today, the breed standard has been reduced to 7 pounds and is available in a wide range of colors
achieved through selective breeding.
Queen Victoria owned a Pomeranian.
General Appearance: A Spitz looking toy breed with a wedge-shaped fox-like head that has a short muzzle that is fine and straight.
The top of the skull is slightly rounded. The small ears are mounted high and carried erect. The medium sized eyes are dark and almond-shaped.
The nose is black. The body is compact and well-ribbed with the brisket reaching the elbow. The tail is plumed and lies flat and straight on the
back. The outercoat is long, straight and coarse with the hair sticking straight out from the body.
