History of the Breed: A Polish breed that looks very much like the Bearded Collie of Scotland. The Polish Owczarek Nizinny, nicknamed "PON" descended from the Puli and other herding dogs over 800 years ago. The breed was originally used for herding and guarding sheep and cattle and was almost driven to extinction during World War 1 & 2.

General Appearance: The medium-sized head is covered in profuse hair making the head appear larger than it actually is. The eyes are oval and medium sized and are either brown or hazel. The medium size drop ears are heart-shaped covered with long hair and set some what high on the head. The topline of the muzzle is straight. The large nose is black or brown based on the coat color. The body is more rectangular than square. The chest is deep and the loin is well muscled and broad and the shoulders are heavily muscled. The feet are thick and oval in shape and the front feet are larger than the rear feet. The short tail is set low and is no longer than two vertebrae in length. The outercoat is thick, long and shaggy.

Coat: A double-coat, the undercoat is dense and soft and the outercoat is thick long and shaggy.

Color: All colors are acceptable, the most common color is white with black, gray, or tan patches.

Grooming needs: Medium, a brushing twice a week to prevent matting.

Temperament of Breed: Clever, perceptive, obedient, and fearless. They have an excellent memory.
Friendly with children: Yes, if properly socialized stating at an early age
Friendly with other dogs: Yes, if properly socialized stating at an early age

Suitability as a watchdog: Excellent

Exercise Level: Medium, should receive a daily walk
