History of the Breed: The Wire-Haired Fox Terrier originated by crossing the old rough-coated Black and Tan Terrier of Wales, with
various other rough-haired terriers from Durham and Derbyshire districts of England. Originally it was used for fox-bolting, he had to be small
enough to enter a fox-earth or drain, yet large enough to run with the hounds.
General Appearance: The Wire Fox Terrier is a compact athletic breed with a wire coat that is predominantly white with brown or black
markings. He has a unique long lean head measuring up to 7˝ inches in length. This breed has an active expressive face with dark deep set eyes,
V shaped ears, and a good nose. He has straight legs and a docked tail that moves quickly when excited.

Coat: Appears broken, the hairs having a tendency to twist, and are of dense, wiry texture.
