History of the Breed: The Smooth Coated Fox Terrier is believed to include the Smooth-Coated Black-And-Tan Terrier, the Bull Terrier,
the Greyhound, and the Beagle. Smooth Fox Terriers preceded the Wires in the show ring by 15 to 20 years. These small terriers have a keen nose,
remarkable eyesight, and never ending stamina and were originally used for driving foxes from their holes.
General Appearance: The Smooth Fox Terrier is a compact athletic breed with a smooth, flat coat that is predominantly white with
brown or black markings. He has a unique long lean head measuring up to 7˝ inches in length. The breed has an active expressive face with
deep set dark eyes, V shaped ears, and a good nose. The legs are straight and the tail is docked and moves quickly when excited.
