History of the Breed: The Chinese Crested is believed to have evolved from the African Hairless dogs. These dogs were traded among
merchants and sailors. The Chinese, selectively bred the African Hairless to a smaller size and produced a dog breed eventually prized for
its ratting ability on ships throughout the trading routes including Central and South American, African, and Asian cities.
General Appearance: A toy dog, fine-boned in two varieties a hairless type with hair only on the head, tail and feet and a powderpuff
type completely covered with hair.
Coat: Two coat types:
Hairless coat: Has hair on certain portions of the body, the head is crested (hence the name Chinese Crested), the tail and feet also have
hair. The hair is soft and silky flowing to any length. The hairless portion of the body has soft smooth skin.
Powderpuff Coat: Fully covered with a double soft silky straight coat of moderate density and length.
Color: Any color or combination of colors

Health Issues with the Breed: A healthy breed. The hairless variety should be protected from sunburn with sunscreen. In cold weather
