History of the Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgis are one of the oldest known breeds, they are descended from the Teckel family of dogs which
also produced the Dachshund. They are believed to have been in existence in Wales for over 3,000 years. These dogs were bred long and low to make
sure that any kicks by cattle would travel safely over the dogs without touching them. The phrase "cor gi" translates to "dwarf dog" in Welsh.
The Corgi has served as a cattle drover and herder, a vermin exterminator, and a family guardian and pet.
General Appearance: The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is a long, low fox-like dog with large upright ears, a brushy tail, moderate bone, and
front legs slightly bowed around a deep chest.

Coat: A dense double coat that is medium in length it is smooth and weather resistant. The insulating undercoat is short, soft and thick.
