History of the Breed: The Australian Terrier breed was developed for rodent and snake control, as a watchdog, and occasionally for
sheep herding. The Aussie originated in Australia in the 1860s it likely has a mixed ancestry comprising the same dog types that produced
today's Dandie Dinmont, Manchester, Irish, and Cairn Terriers. These small Terriers helped expand the frontier in Australia.
General Appearance: A compact, longer in body than height, very alert attitude, prick ears, docked tail, dark eyes, with a
rugged 2.5 inch harsh coat.
