History of the Breed: The
Affenpinscher is one of the oldest toy breeds. These small terriers
originated in Central Europe (what is now Germany) and were
primarily used to remove rodents from kitchens, granaries, and
stables. They have been bred down in size over time and have a
unique monkey like expression created from a prominent chin with
mustache and bushy eyebrows. In German the name Affenpinscher means
"monkeylike terrier". The Affenpinscher was used to develop both
the Brussels Griffon and the Miniature Schnauzer.

Small-toy, wiry-haired terrier can be black, gray, silver, or black
and tan. A monkey like expression created from the unique facial
hair appearance.
