History of the Breed: Xoloitzcuintli, pronounced "show-low-eats-queent-lee", is a very old breed extending back to the Toltecs, the Aztecs, the Mayans, and the Colima Indians. The breed's name is a combination of two Aztec words; "Xolotl" was one of the Aztec gods and "itzcuintli" meaning dog. Clay and ceramic effigies of Xolos date back over 3000 years and have been discovered in the tombs of the Toltec, Aztec, Mayan, Zapoteca, and Colima Indians.
General Appearance: This breed has Manchester Terrier like ears and an alert expression. The hairless body is solid without stockiness.
