History of the Breed: The Weimaraner has existed since at least the 1600s however, the breed standard did not appear until the 1800s. It
is believed that various pointing breeds and even the bloodhound were its ancestors. The breed was developed to serve as a gundog for the nobility
and ownership was restricted to only the nobility. Unlike other hunting dogs kept in kennels the Weimaraner was so unique, rare and treasured it
lived with the family. Originally used to hunt large game such as wolves, dear, and bear, its instinctual hunting method is to attack the prey's
genitals to bring it down. The Weimaraner received its name from nobles in the court of Weimar who wanted the perfect dog for hunting.
