History of the Breed: The Ibizan Hound can be traced back to ancient Egypt. The Egyptians worshiped a god called Anubis the watchdog
of the dead. In 1922, a full-size sculpture of Anubis was located in Tutankhamen's tomb, and it was a precise image of the Ibizan Hound of today.
This demonstrates that the Pharaohs owned and treasured these dogs. Historians believe that either the Phoenician sailing traders, in the 8th
century B.C. or the Carthaginian invaders in the 6th century B.C. brought the dog to the island of Ibiza, off the coast of Spain
General Appearance: The Ibizan hound is an elegant, sleek, and athletic sighthound. The head like most sighthounds is long and
narrow and shaped in the form of a sharp cone truncated at its base. The amber colored eyes are oblique and small. The ears are large and pointed.
The muzzle is elongated, fine, and slender. The muzzle and skull are on parallel planes. The nose is prominent, extending beyond the lower jaw.

slender, slightly arched and strong neck. The back is level and straight. The chest is deep and long with the breastbone sharply angled and
