History of the Breed: The Harrier was the poor man's foxhound and can be traced back to the 13th century. In the United States
the Harrier has been used since colonial days as a hunting dog. It is a pack hound that is larger than a Beagle but smaller than a Fox Hound.
General Appearance: The Harrier is a medium sized hound that looks very much like a small English Foxhound. It is an athletic hunting
hound with a short, dense hard coat. The breed has a body that is slightly longer than tall and is large boned. The skull is broad with a strong
square muzzle. The rounded ears are pendant, and the eyes are either brown or hazel. The wide nose is black. The feet are tight and cat-like.
The tail is medium-length and carried high.
